Followup to the "Apollonius The Nazarene" postings:

There is a web-site in Australia that has some selections from
the "buried classic" of Philostratus's (220 A.D.) "Life of
Apollonius of Tyana."

As far as the complete text is concerned, the only complete
English translation of "The Life of Apollonius of Tyana" by
Philostratus -- is a 2 volume hardcover set put out by 
Harvard University Press [ISBN 0-674-99018-8 & 0-674-99019-6].
It was translated from the Greek in 1912 by F.C. Conybeare, 
M.A., of University College, Oxford, England.  The Greek text 
and corresponding English translation are side-by-side in the
book, which is real nice if you can read Greek.

Also included in the volume are most of the Epistles (letters) 
known to have been written by Apollonius. These are besides
the one's which were appropriated into the New Testament.

Conybeare added a "Treatise of Eusebius" (330 A.D.) at the end 
of the book, since being a Christian he felt it was his duty to
put Apollonius in his place of inferiority to Jesus and the
Church.  

The complete title of this treatise by Eusebius is as follows: 
"THE TREATISE OF EUSEBIUS, SON OF PAMPHILUS, AGAINST THE LIFE 
OF APOLLONIUS OF TYANA WRITTEN BY PHILOSTRATUS, OCCASIONED BY 
THE PARALLEL DRAWN BY HIEROCLES BETWEEN HIM AND CHRIST."  
(Note that after writing this treatise, shortly after finishing
up with his forgery duties for Constantine at Nicea, Hierocles's
treatise was destroyed by the "Church Fathers," leaving behind 
for posterity ONLY Eusebius's diatribe of denunciation of 
Hierocles and Apollonius, and not anything of Hierocles's well-
reasoned arguments proving that the unhistorical life of Jesus 
was fabricated from the historical life of Apollonius.)

All in all, an explosively controversial and entertaining book,
IF you can find it. (I had to give up looking in libraries where
it is usually always missing or pulled -- and had to purchase it
directly from Harvard U. Press. You will probably have to do the 
same if you want to read it in its inspiring original.)
